his second wife, Maggie L. Hornbek, lists that Elliot's mother, Adeline
"Worfield," was born in Syracuse, New York, while census and family records list
that she was born in Massachusetts.
Though three of Adaline's older children were by her first husband, Simon A.
"George" Harker, they were erroneously listed with the Hornbek surname in the
1880 census of El Paso County, Colorado. All three children list the
same place of birth for their father as Massachusetts.
According to records of Lila Hornbek, wife of Roy L. Ash, Adeline had a brother
named Alexander Warfield who was a business partner of Simon A. "George"
