COLE were married maybe 23 ??? 1811.40 William W. COLE was born in 1788 in Culpeper County, Virginia.41 He died on 3 November 1869 in Cass Co., Illinois.41 Moved to Illinois in the fall of 1833. Settled near the present site of Virginia City. During the fall of 1834 he entered 240 acres of land in the Sangamon valley, and 40 acres in the hills, and began inprovements, living for some time in a tent, afterwards building a cabin. He supplied his family with delicious meats from the bountiful game in the hills at that time. Daniel J. son did a lot of the hunting for the family. The homestead grew to 1200 acres by the time Daniel J. left home at the age of 25. William was foremost in organizing the first Baptist Church in Sangamon Valley. He was considered to be a high-minded, enterprising, and industrious farmer who valued honor and piety above all other things.
