WAS JOHN CRAWFORD AND WAS UNDER GEN. THOMAS WASHINGTON ATTACHED TO INFANTRY; HE SERVED AS INTERPRETOR OF THE CREEK LANGUAGE. In 1806 when JAMES B. was 20, he married NANCY Gore, daughter of AMBROSE OR THOMAS Gore & ELIZABETH (1774-1860), in OVERTON CO. TENN. Born in 1789 in GEORGIA TERR., LATTER BECAME AL. NANCY died in 1840/1850; she was 51. Buried in ILL PROB.PIKE CO.

the mother of Asa Wells' children, but that is not true. The childre n mentioned
are those by his second wife, Sarah Catherine Vigles.On a trip to Kentucky & Tennessee in August 1936, his son James Alber t Wells,
was told by relatives that Asa had been married before, and that on h is wedding
night, he discovered that his bride was not a female. They stated that he left
her that night and later had the marriage annulled.Cause of Death: Stroke
According to his granddaughter, Eunice Wells, Asa started having ligh t strokes
about ten days prior to his death, they increased in severity on a da ily basis
& resulted in his death on 19 Dec 1917.Religion: Church of Christ
