Earl's father's name was Charles Markland. I got this through cemetery records from Montgomery Co., Ky. I am researching the same line. Ora was my grandmothers sister. My grandmother was Mary Lina Dragoo. Their sister Annie married Thomas R. Markland Earl's brother. Earl and Thomas had a sister named Lula MArkland. She married Theodore (Dora) Crouch and they had a son named Lawrence T. Crouch. He is my grandfather and married MAry Lina Dragoo. Maybe we could change some info> I have quite a few records on MArklands from Cemetery records in Mount Stering. A lot of them were buried in Machpelah Cemetery. Including Earl and Ora.

Your Grandfather Earl Markland was married to my grandmothers sister. His brother Thomas R. Markland was married to her other sister. Their sister Lula Markland was married to my grandmothers father-in-law. I am researching this family line too. Maybe we can compare notes.

I have just started looking for my ancestory. My
grandfather was born.(I think) in bath county,Ky. he lived in .mt. sterling, Ky. Montgomery County. Born 1881, died 1951. Earl Markland, married to ora dragoo. would like to find his parents. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Left Poland as a youth. Twice shipwrecked on the way over. Fought through the entire Revolutionary war settling in Culpepper, Virginia at the Wars end. He is buried in the Jewish Cemetary at Richmond Virginiua.

I found this Bible in the vault of the Powell Agency, Inc., Reidsville, NC about 1974. (The Powell Agency, Inc. had been originally forms as the Laura L Powell Agency by the purchase of the Huffines Agency in February of 1918.) My belief is that it belonged to Laura Leslie Powell; that she had received it from her father, Robert Samuel Powell; and, that she had brought the Bible to the office in the early 1950's to document her age for Social Security purposes. Laura Leslie Powell died in July of 1972.
