It is said that some (if not all) of JRC's sisters were to have destroyed Drusilla's will before he could get back in time for the funeral.  It is known that a will was made up at one time leaving the house to him but one was never found.

Thornton left Moundridge  towards the end for another woman and lived in Texas during the last years of his life.  After he passed away Drusilla went to Texas and brought Thornton back for burial in Moundridge.
