Made application to the Cheerokee Indian Commission.  In his application he stated that he was the illegitimate son of Dulcie Ogletree that his father was John Mayfield , son of Stephen Mayfield. His grandmother  was Rachel Ogletree who was half indian.  Thomas states that Rachel was stolen by her father Stephen Mayfield and taken to Overton County.  In another statement he says that the full blodied indian "Jack" lived in Overton Co., most of her life.
