JACOB moved to Scott (now Logan) Co., Arkansas in 1849 wi t h his brother Elihu. He erected six houses in the town of Sugar Grove, Logan Co.,Arkansas was latter named . Elihu's wife and Jacob's parents were buried in the cemetery on Jacob's place. He was elected representative of Scott County, an office he held until the close of the war. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 205 of Sugar Creek and was made a Master Mason in the Booneville Lodge in 1859. Jacob and his second wife Emma moved to Hereford, Texa s in April 1902 due to his health. Other Buttram kinfolks lived in Jacob's houses until a lake was built. The cemetery was moved to build the lake.
