Elizabeth, his mother, claimed his pension.  He left her quite a bitofland.  Most of it was sold to pay his debts.   Elizabeth had to livebyher own labors and the labors of ther son John D. to support her andtheother small children.  She swore to be wholly dependent upon Johnforsupport at his death.  The farm she and John had was valued at$300.Other items listed were, 1 horse, $50; a few sheep and hogs. ITwasnecessary that John support his mother.  He entered the servicetosupport her.   While in the army he sent her $45. by one soldierand$27.50 at another time.  Elizabeth's pension started at $8.00 per moon8/8/1864 and in 1886 was increased to $12. Hiram Douglas Rogerswaslisted as legal administrator.

CLAY CITY -- Edith Irene Booth, 75, 40 Beech Fork Road, wife of Lemon Booth, died yesterday. Services 11 a.m. Wednesday, Wells Funeral Home, Stanton. Visitation 5 p.m. today.

Edith Irene Booth, 75, of Clay City, died Monday, October 4, 11 1999 at her
residence of congestive heart failure.  She was born on Monday, July 7, 1924 in Bowen to the late L.D. James and Lizzie James. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of God
in Clay City.
She is survived by her husband: Lemon Booth of Clay City; one son: Earl
Booth of Stanton; one daughter in law: Debbie Booth of Stanton; and three sisters:
Gertrude Ashley of Hamilton, OH, Ella Rose of Lexington and Marie Hopper of
Cincinnati, OH:  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at
Wells Funeral Home with Rev. Coy Rigney officiating and Rev. Anthony Molihah
assisting.
Burial followed in the Stanton Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, October 5,
1999 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
