The 1929-1939 Great Depression hit many families very hard. Otis and Eula Teague were able to raise most of what they needed on the farm, and his job with the US Post Office brought home enough money to buy what they couldn't grow or make. This also allowed them to help support their extended families.Minnie Teague Tomlin would bring her family to her brother Otis' home for weekends and summers. Lewis Miller, brother of Otis' first wife Mary, is another who often stayed with Otis and Eula.
