Moved from Bakersfield, Kern Co., California at the age of 4 months. Later moved to Odessa, Texas and then to the Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., Texas area.
Played the trumpet and attended East Texas State University on a music scholarship in composition.
Known to his fraternity brothers as Beethoven.
Member of Mu Phi Alpha, Beta Mu Chapter, East Texas State University.
Started with the help of John Loftus, the Society of Collision Repair Specialists in 1982.
Earned his pilot's license in 1982, his multi-engine rating in 1988 and instrument rating in 1989.
Owned and operated Cowan Automotive, Inc. which had mechanical and autobody repair services.
Died in the crash of a single seat, proto-type aerobatic aircraft after engine failure while trying to land.

Was buried in the Emery Cemetery in Rockwood, Randolph Co., Illinois.
Earned his A & P  (aircraft mechanics) license during his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII.  Was chief mechanic on the B-25 Mitchell in England and France during the war.
Bob and Eunice moved to Tulsa, Tulsa Co., Oklahoma in 1947 after he was hired by American Airlines as a mechanic.  Bob was transferred to the Fort Worth, American Airlines crew base in 1960.  Eunice and children followed in July of 1961.
He was soon promoted to co-pilot after earning his pilot's license and ratings.  Remained with American Airlines until 1982 until he retired after 35 years.  Bob was to retire in December of 1982 but retired early due to a heart attack in May of that year.  At retirement, Bob flew and was rated to train on all equipment that was then owned by the company. He was a Check Airman, a FAA designee and Test Pilot for the company. Earned his Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument ratings.
Bought land and built a log house outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado where he and Eunice lived from 1983 to 1992.  They then moved to Rockwood, Illinois where they bought the old Emery Place next to the Emery Cemetery.
Was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
