GREENBERRY PEDDICOART, b. Abt. 1752, Frederick County, Maryland; d. Aft. 1832, Stokes County, NC.
Notes for GREENBERRY PEDDICOART:
I do not know if Greenberry was a member of the Moravian Church. He is mentioned in "Moravian families of Carroll's Manor" in July 1772: Br. Hehl the fourth time visited Br. Powell and their people on the Manor when Greenbury Peddigeart (sic) had to move to Lititz, and his sister, Sarah, and Mary Markland came on a visit. He married a Quaker Widow.
In 1811 he purchased a tract of land containing 177 acres for the sum of $304. "... a tract of land lying in Stokes County, NC, on the southwest side of the Middle Fork of Gargales or Muddy creek ... beginning at a birch tree on the bank of said Middle Fork, a corner of Henry Slater ... on Slater's other line ... etc. containing all the building and improvements.
On the 1800 census in Stokes County, NC, Greenbury is listed living alone.
From Hope Moravian Church Book, p. 45, #410: Wiley Peddycord, son of William Peddycord, planter, living in Stokes County, and his wife, Elizabeth, formerly Hamilton, b. 20 July 1813, bap. 22 August 1813 by John Lewis Stroble, Pastor, loci. Sponsors: Greenbury Peddycord and his wife, Sarah Padget, formerly Matthews. (Faye Moran believes this is Greenberry and Mary Hyer Peddycord and Sarah Padgett.)
