Mrs. Mary Markland died of the infimities of old age last Thursday at the home of her son, James Markland, on the waters of White Oak, Wyoming precinct. Funeral Friday with burial in Atchison graveyeard. She was born Apr. 13, 1816 and was a daughter of Samuel Craig and a sister of John Craig, the well-known stock trader of near Salt Lick. Married to Jonathan Markland who died a few years ago. Surviving children were: James, Mrs. Lizzie Adams, Samuel and Garrett, the latter three living in Missouri. Member of the Christian Church.
