Mrs. Elizabeth Steeldied at her home in Kansas City, Missouri, September 9, 1901, aged seventy-five years. The remains were brought to
this place Tuesday on the 4:10 train. Funeral services were held from the Christian church immediately after the body arrived, conducted by
Elder H. I. Bryant, after which interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery.
The deceased is well known in Council Grove, having resided here for nearly thirty-five years. She was the mother of five children, four
girls and one boy, all of whom survive her save two, Mrs. M. L. Stillwell, who recently died (Nov. 27, 1900) at Eureka, Kansas and the
son, Wm. Steel (Feb. 21, 1872). Those living are Mrs. G. W. (Mary Jane)See, living one mile north of town; Mrs. John (Sarah) Marens of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. J. L. (Lamira) Sager of Kansas City, Mo. The deceased had been a member of the Christian church from her younger
days and was known for her devoted life to her Master.NOTE:William Francis Steele, born 4 Aug 1848, Pittsfield, Pike Co., IL, died 21 Feb1872, Council Grove, Morris Co., KS age but 23 years, 6 Months, and 17 days. Did he suffer from tuberculoses like his father?
