"T.S." and his brothers, Dick Grant and "Britches" Gran t o w ned and operated a ranch 7 miles west of Davis in Mur ra y Co unty, Oklahoma, on land that had once been Fort Arb uck le du ring the Civil War. The "Big House" where Dick a nd h is fam ily lived was built over and included what ha d bee n the for t headquarters. The barn just east of the h ouse h ad been th e fort commissary and many artifacts hav e been d ug up ove r the years. As of 1992 the ranch is sti ll in th e family . Source #22

WILLIAM, "C. B.", started his career as a high school m a t h teacher and progressed to high school principal in Yu ko n , Oklahoma. During World War II he quit teaching an d bui l t a "tourist court" on Highway 66, west of Yukon . The "c ou rts" were always fully occupied due to their p roximity t o t he El Reno Air Force Base. Following the wa r he sold t he m otel and was involved in real estate, incl uding a peri od o f ownership of a motel in Port Aransas, T exas. "C. B. EDITH moved with her family from Ector, Texas to Anadar k o , Oklahoma in about 1905, then to Norman, Oklahoma in 1 91 4 . She attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman . Aft e r her marriage to William ("C.B."), she lived th e rest o f h er life in Yukon, Oklahoma.

CHRISTOPHER played football at the University of Oklaho m a i n Norman. He served in the U.S.Army from 16 March 19 42 to 18 Sept. 1 9 45. He was a Corporal in the FA (Armore d) ARS, Batter y A , 65th Armored Field Artillery Battalion . Served in Tu nesi a, Africa in Jan. 1943, Sicily in Jul y 1943, and a mem ber o f the Normandy Invasion, 6 June 199 4, where he receiv ed a w ounded knee and was hospitalize d in England. After r ecover y he was a mail clerk of the " Stars and Stripes" i n Paris , France. Married in his earl y 40's, he worked for the Post Offic e i n Hobbs, New Mexic o until his retirement and then retur ne d to Yukon, Oklaho ma. "BILL" attended the University of Oklahoma and after hi s m a rriage they lived in several Oklahoma towns where h e work e d on different newspapers. In Pauls Valley he bec ame int er ested in social work and became a case worker fo r the We lfa re Department. In 1941 or 1942, in Norman, Ok lahoma, h e wa s the County Welfare Director. During Worl d War II, B ill w as a machine shop foreman at Douglas Airc raft in Okla homa C ity. Following the War he worked fo r a number of ye ars a t the University of Oklahoma Press i n Norman, complet ed hi s degree in Journalism at the Unive rsity during nigh t schoo l, and then was Public Relation s Director and Edito r of th e newspaper for Oklahoma Elect ric Cooperative in No rman unt il his retirement in Decembe r 1975.
