"State of Tennessee, Overton County Upon motion and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that Creed T. HUDDLESTON formerly a citizen of this County departed this life in the month of October 1847 in the city of Mexico leaving no written will and that said deceased had left a large amount of property in this County of Overton and the Court being satisfied as to the claim of William B. CHOWNING to the administration of said estate, it is therefore ordered by the court that William B. CHOWNING be appointed administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits of the said Creed T. HUDDLESTON decd. Whereupon William B. CHOWNING came into court with Chattin CHOWNING, Balon MARCUM, John F. JOUETT, William DALE and Z. R. CHOWNING his securites who acknowledged bond in the penal sum of sixteen thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs and the said William B. CHOWNING was qualified as such and letters of administration ordered to be issued to him."

BLEDSOE was shortly expected to arrive at the town of Columbus in Jackson County from the City of Mexico where they fell in their Country's cause, and the Court being desirous of paying a tribute of respect to their remains ordered that Thos. M. FINLEY, Johnathan FOWLER, N. W. LANE, Alexander CRAWFORD, Arkley FISK, Henry ANDREW, Wm. CHOWNING, Wm. T. OVERSTREET, J. M. GOODBAR, Jacob GARDENHIRE, George CHRISTIAN, Daniel MCMILLIN, Louis STOVER Sen., William C. HERD, M. L. ARMSTRONG, John M. TURNER, Wm. A. OFFICER, F. H. DAUGHTERTY, James R. COPELAND, Abram HAYTER, Landon ARMSTRONG, Jesse ROBERTS, Wm. C. HARRISON & Willis H. PARRIS be appointed a committee of escort to attend at the town of Columbus to receive their remains and that Capt. John KENNEDY be the Officer on the occasion and the committee is authorized to give a general invitation to all persons to attend on the occasion and that Wm.
