His Revolutionary War pension file number is #W2148 . Descendants of Joseph can become members of the DAR or SAR. Tax records in Wayne County, Kentucky show that he owned and sold many acres of land between 1799 and 1828. Joseph was living with his son, Daniel, in Saline County, Illinois when he died.

After the Revolutionary War, Joseph Sr. Minzes in Oct 1815 took out a land grant for 150 acres in Wayne Co, Ky.; "The Kentucky Land Grants"Jillson, Vol 1, Tellico Grants (1803-1853) pg 447. Then
sometime between1820 and 1840 the family began to split up, Joseph Sr. and some of hischildren
went north into Illinios, Ohio, and Indiana. Joseph Jr., his family and some of his siblings moved to
Tennesse, then from there the children ended up in Missouri around 1850. Ewing S. Minzes, Joseph Jr. 'sonly son, and his family lived there for about 25 to 30 years. Sometimein the 1880's most of Ewing's children packed up their families and moved to Texas. Today the majority of the Minze/Minzes side of the family linelives in Texas, though there are a few households still in Missouri.There are also a few in California, Louisiana, and along the EasternSeaboard from Virginia up through New York.

Two children had preceded her in death, an d tw o more died within four years. There are several docu ment s in Meigs County concerning the guardianship of thes e chil dren. Eventually, only three sons lived long enoug h to pro duce children who survived to adulthood. Since a n umber o f persons in successive generations died of tubercu losis, i t is thought that some persons in this household s uffered f rom the disease.
