Parents: John Lessly and Polly Zimmerman.

Adeline Francis Lessly191 was born on 22 November 1910 in Missouri.806 She died on 15 December 1928 at the age of 18 in Missouri.806 She was buried in Old Higbee Cemetery, Higbee, Missouri.1201 According to the notes of Stiles Lessly, Addie was killed in an auto accident at age 18.

25 Nov 1910--Born, on the 22, to G. E. Lessley and wife, a daughter.

Friday, 29 Feb 1924, Vol 37 No 45--Misses Delphia, Addie and Orphia Lessly visited
their brother, Roy, and family at Clark last week.

Thursday, 28 Apr 1927, Vol 40, No 51, Pg. 5 Col. 2--LOCAL AND PERSONAL--Misses Addie and Orphia Lessly, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Lessly, who have been suffering from diphtheria for the past week, are much better, we are glad to state. It was feared Tuesday night of last week that Miss Addie could not live through the night, and but for the fact that Dr. C. F. Burkhalter remained at her bedside all night
and fought for her life by keeping her throat clear, she likely would have passed away. A trained nurse was secured the next day, and each has received every care and attention. An air-tight quarantine was established as soon as the nature of the malady was determined, and there is no fear of the disease spreading. Where they contracted the disease is a mystery. So far as is known there are no other cases in this section.

Thursday, 5 May 1927, Vol 40, No 52, Pg. 1 Col. 3--SCHOOL NOTES--The high
school has been very sorry to lose Nellie Sperry, Addie and Orpha Lessly from their
midst. Nellie has gone to Marshall to live with her parents. Addie and Orpha have been
very ill with diphtheria, and will be unable to return to school. Parents: George Edwin Lessly and Willa Mae Daggs.

Alice Gray Lessly191 was born on 25 December 1856 in Polk Co., MO.358,1166 She died on 18 January 1921 at the age of 64 in Mill Creek, OK. She was buried in Durant, OK. In the printed account of the 1860 census for Polk County, MO, Alice is listed as a child in her father's household. Her age is given as 4 and her place of birth as Missouri.

In the 1870 census for Randolph Co., MO, Alice appears as a child in her father's household. Her age is listed as 13 and her place of birth as Missouri. Also she is listed as having attended school within the last year.

In the 1880 census for Randolph Co., MO, Alice appears as a member of her husband's household. Her age is listed as 23, her occupation as "keeping house", and her place of birth as Missouri. Both of her parents are listed as having been born in Kentucky. It had been suggested in family notes that Alice and her husband accompanied the Lessly migration to Texas (occuring about 1874-1876) but their presence in the 1880 Randolph Co., MO census dispells that notion. Family notes also suggest that at some time Alice and her husband had a farm near James Elkins Lessly in Grayson Co., TX. They may eventually have moved on with the Oklahoma land rush.

Alice appears in the 1920 census for Oklahoma, Johnston County, Gibbs Twp. as a member of her husband's household. Her age is listed as 64 and her place of birth is listed as Missouri. Her father's birthplace is listed as Kentucky and her mother's birthplace is listed as South Dakota (not true).

The information from both census records confirms family information on Alice's birthdate and birthplace. Parents: James Elkins Lessly and Emily Harris.

Spouse: George Thomas Kimbrough. Alice Gray Lessly and George Thomas Kimbrough were married on 28 February 1873 in Randolph County, MO.1167,1168 Children were: George T. Kimbrough, Lillian May Kimbrough.

Almeda Lessly191 was born about 1828 in Kentucky, United States.1202 She died after 1854 at the age of 26. Appears in the 1850 Missouri Census in Polk County as a member of her husband's household. Her age is listed as 22 and her birthplace as Kentucky. She has one child - Augustus E. Parents: John Lessly and Polly Zimmerman.

Spouse: Dr. James A. Lindsay. Almeda Lessly and Dr. James A. Lindsay were married on 21 October 1846 in Polk County, MO.1203 Children were: Augustus E. Lindsay.

Almira Lessly191 was born about 1835 in Missouri.1204,1205 She died after 1860 at the age of 25. Almira Lessley appears in the household of John Lessley in the 1850 Missouri census for Polk County. Her age is given as 15 and her place of birth as Missouri. She is listed as having attended school within the last year.

On the Broderbund Archive CD#5 a Almyra Lessley is listed as marrying H.M. Wilkerson on 13 February 1855 in Polk County.

An Elvira Wilkerson is listed in the 1860 Missouri census for Polk County in the household of Mary Lessley (her mother)). Her age is given as 25 and her place of birth as Kentucky. I believe this "Elvira" and the Almira from 1850 to be the same person especially since the ages listed in both census match up. The birthplaces listed in the both census do NOT correspond but the first census was more than likely incorrect.

An Almira Wilkerson is listed as having married one H.C. Duvault on Dec 18, 1860 in Polk County. This well could be Almira Lessley Wilkerson. It would also explain her presence in her mother's household if her husband had died. Parents: John Lessly and Polly Zimmerman.

Spouse: H. M. Wilkerson. Almira Lessly and H. M. Wilkerson were married on 13 February 1855 in Polk County, MO.1206 Children were: Mary Wilkerson.

Andrew Lessly191 was born before 1835. He died after 1854 at the age of 19. May be listed in the 1840 census for Randolph County MO. An Andrew Lesley is listed on page 271, No twsp. ID# MOS4a1577881 Parents: John Lessly and Polly Zimmerman.

Andrew P. Lessly191 was born on 7 June 1851 in near Higbee, Randolph Co., MO.358 He died on 28 April 1895 at the age of 43 in Wichita, KS. He was buried in Gerogetown cemetary, Pottsboro, TX. In the printed account of the 1860 census for Polk County, MO, Andrew appears as a child in his father's household. His age is given as 10 and his place of birth as Missouri.

In the 1870 census for Randolph County, MO, Andrew appears as a member of his father's household. His age is listed as 19 and his place of birth as Missouri. His occupation is listed as "works on farm". He is also listed as having attended school within the last year.

Andrew appears in the 1880 census for Grayson Co., MO as a member of his father's household. His age is listed as 26, his place of birth as Missouri and his occupation as Farmer. Both parents are listed as having bee born in Kentucky.

The information from the 1860 and 1870 census records confirms family information on Andrew's birthdate and place of birth.

From "The Higbee News" 10 June 1893--Mr. James Lessley left for Norman, I. T. Sunday, in answer to a telegram announcing the serious illness of his son, A. P. Lessley.

Annie Lessly191 was born in December 1881 in near Higbee, Randolph Co., MO.1208,1209,1210 She died about 1961 at the age of 80 in Moberly, MO. She was buried in Old Higbee Cemetery, Higbee, Missouri.1209 the following is taken from the notes of Stiles Lessly circa March 1, 1970

Annie Lessly lived with her father until his death in 1922. In addition to being housekeeper for him, she took care of Lucy during her long illness and Uncle Gus (William Augustus Lessly) during his fatal illness. After her father's death she was married to Tom Williams of Higbee. They bought a farm about five miles north of Higbee and lived there until Tom's death. Annie then sold the farm and bought a house in Higbee and lived there until she had a stroke. Her last two years were spent in a nursing home in Moberly.

A marriage license issued by the Recorder of Deeds for Randolph County, MO says that Annie E. Lessly and T. J. Williams were married on 28 July, 1924 at Moberly, MO. The license is signed by the Christian Minister of Moberly, MO and witnessed by Maude Williams and Claude Lessly. This Claude Lessly should be Annie's nephew Claude Kimborough Lessly. The other witness, Maude Williams, would later become Claude's wife. It is possible that Maude is related to Annie's husband T. J. Williams.

In the 1900 census for Randolph County, MO, Annie appears as a member of her father's household. Her date of birth is listed as December 1881, her age as18 and her place of birth as Missouri. The place of birth for both parents is also listed as Missouri. According to the census she can both read and write and has attended school for 7 months.

In the 1910 census for Randolph County, MO, Annie appears as a member of her father's household. Her age is listed as 28 and her place of birth as Missouri. Both parents are listed as having been born in Missouri. No occupation is listed for her. She is listed as being able to read, write, and speak English. Annie's brother "Gus" is also listed (as William A.) in the census. The census was taken about a month before his death. Parents: George Washington Lessly and Annie Elizabeth Pattrick.

Spouse: Thomas J. Williams. Annie Lessly and Thomas J. Williams were married on 28 July 1924 in Moberly, MO.1211 Friday, 1 Aug 1924, Vol 38 No. 15--Williams-Lessly--Mr. Thos. J. Williams and Miss Annie Lessly, two of our best known residents, sprang what they may have thought was a surprise on their friends and acquaintances Tuesday by slipping away to Moberly in a car, where they were united in marriage at the home of the officiating minister, the Rev. E. M. Richmond, leaving immediately thereafter for Taylorville, Ill., for a visit with Mr. Williams' sister, Mrs. Geo. Lilly. As the wedding of this most estimable couple had been looked for some time, and
had been rumored on one or two occasions as having already taken place, it came as a surprise to but few.
The legion of friends of each join the NEWS in the wish that happiness may ever attend them.
