Due to a problem with a brother-in-law, he left Estill Co 3-14-1909. Before he left, someone burned his barns and livestock on his place at Woodward's Creek. He was at church with his family when he was told about the burning. He was quoted as saying, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, bless be the name of the Lord". According to Dalton Rogers, William and family moved to ID. He believes he left because of either no work in KY or trouble with people.
