In his obit he was listed as being a magistrate, master commissioner and a JP in Lee Co. He was a member Stafford Lodge F&AM, a master of Thacker Lodge many time, a Grand Sord Bearer of the Grand lodge in 1926 and he attended the Grand Lodge 40 consecutive sessions. Probably one of the nicest thing written about him, "He never refused anyone who asked him a favor".

They lived in Dripping Springs until Celia's father gave them some land near the Lee/Estill line. They later bought more land in this area. Their house burned in 1972. The Eager Baptist church by the Rogers Cememtery was built on the land that Celia gave the community. The Faith Baptist church was built after the congreation grew.
