Mr. Ashley, 45, of Oxford, died at noon Sunday in Gunnison, Colo.
Born in Lexington, Ky., he was the owner of Central Tire for eight years and then served as general manager of Executive Support System for the past five years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Air Force form 1963-67. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge of Blue Ash and the American Motorcycle Association. He was preceded in death this year by his father, Ulysses. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Gertrude of Hamilton; a brother, A.Michael Ashley of Hamilton, Oh; and a sister, Mrs. Rita A. Fishman of Gainesville, Ga.
(This is added by his sister, Rita Ashley Fishman). For many years he had been into motorcycle racing. The race in Colorado was the "best" as it was by invitation only. He had missed my daughter's wedding the year before because if he did not compete he would lose his spot. He went to CO and the day before the race, he and others went for a trial run... About halfway up the mountain he stopped and said he didn't feel well. He got off the cycle and sat down by a a tree... 10 minutes later he was gone. There were medical people with him and there was nothing to be done. His heart had exploded and he was gone. As I write this, 9 years later, it is still hard to accept. Ron was not only a very nice looking man, but a nice person. Parents: Ulysses ASHLEY and Nellie Gertrude JAMES.
