He immigrated to America in 1730, landing at New Castle, Delaware 14 July 1730; first settled near Hanover twp, Lancaster, PA where on 10 June 1734 he received a warrant for 200 acres of land, and on 10 June 1738 200 more acres of land. On 1 May 1740 he sold 200 acres to James Clark and 200 acres to John Moore, and moved and settled in Albermarle County, Virginia in that part which was made into Amherst County in 1761 and into Nelson County in 1803.
