nickname "Coons", and known to enjoy "a little nip with the boys". It's said that he once got so inebriated that he rode his horse into the middle of the church gathering whooping it up. Sometime after Catherine died [7 Oct 1860], he married Jemima West, dau. of Barney West. On the night of Dec. 10, 1862, Tench stumbled home drunk after one of his evenings out. He got just a bit too friendly with one of his step-dau., and Jemima hit him on the head with a poker, and then repeatedly stabbed him with a buffalo skinning knife. Well, if you ever seen a buffalo skinning knife, then you know she must have wanted him quite dead. Jemima headed for the hills with her children, and was never again seen in the area by the McCormick's. I've also heard she was tried and aquitted of his murder. I have 9 kids listed but don't have any birthdates or spouses, and would love to know that if you have it.
