Mary Ann Age 74 years, living with her son James Crockett 6 miles east of
Centralia, was horribly, perhaps fatally burned, Thursday evening. Her
clothing caught fire from the cooking stove and before the greedy flames could
be extinguished, her body in places was burned almost to a crisp. Her
sufferings are intense, and the attending physician, Dr. E.J. Wallace reports
her recovery quite doubtful. Her sufferings have partially demented her.
Mrs. Mary Crockett, who was so frightfully burned last Thursday, died of her
injuries Sunday night. She never recovered consciousness. (From the Colombia
