Ozias Denton BERTRAM was born on 20 April 1837 in Wayne County, Kentucky. His obituary was written in December 1927.²⁰⁴ "Mr. Ozias Denton Bertram died at his home at Millerburg, near Temple, last Thursday, lacking until next April of being 91 years of age. He was born in Wayne County, a son of the late Rev Ephraim Bertram, a minister of the Baptist Church, but came to Barren County and settled at Ritter's Mill, near Laurel Bluff, in 1857, and spent the remainder of his life in that neighborhood. He was the oldest of 14 children, only four of whom are living: Messrs Jasper N. Bertram, last heard of in Tacoma, Wash., Shelby Bertram, Shenandoah, Iowa; Broadius Bertram, Indianapolis; Mrs Arminta Spradlin of Missouri. His wife, who was Miss Rebecca Fisher, to whom he was married on May 6,1858, died in 1915. Mr. Bertram was the father of nine children, all of whom survive: Mrs Wilborn Gentry, Mrs. Martha Spradlin, Mrs. Dora B. Britt, Mrs. Eliza Jordan, Messrs Curd Bertram, Joe D. Bertram, George Bertram, all of Glasgow and Barren county; Mrs. Will Chism of California, Mr. W. D. Bertram of Owensboro. Twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-two great grand-children also survive. Mr. Bertram was a member of the Baptist Church at Mount Pleasant for forty years, and a member of the H. B. Grant Lodge of Masons at Etoile for forty-three years. He was a man of great influence and usefulness in his neighborhood, and no man had a better name for absolute honor and integrity. The burial was in the cemetery at Mt. Pleasant, under the auspices of the Masons, after funeral services in which Revs. Davis, Walden and Carver participated."
