Santa Clara, March 8--Mrs Lucy C. Laine, a widely known resident of this place and relict of the late Thomas H. Laine who was one of the best known attorneys in the State, died last night at the residence of her son, Willis A. Laine, on the corner of Benton and Washington from congestion of the lungs after a brief illness. The deceased was a native of Missouri ad was in her sixty sixth year. She came to this state in 1852 and in 1860 she located in San Jose, where she remained for a period of about two years, when she removed here, and resided continually in Santa Clara until a year ago, when she moved to Campbell. The deceased was of a very kind and cheerful disposition and was greatly beloved by all that knew her. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Santa Clara. She was the mother of Frank B. Laine a well known attorney of Clifton Ariz; Mrs Cora L. wife of William A. Johnston, a prominent attorney of this county, and Willis A, Thomas A., Charley C., and P. H. Laine. Her funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon. She was buried in Mission City Memorial Park, Santa Clara, Santa Clara Co., CA. CENSUS: 1860-- Santa Clara, Santa Clara Co., CA age 19 b. MO
