Earned his A & P (aircraft mechanics) license during his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Was chief mechanic on the B-25 Mitchell in England and France during the war.
Bob and Eunice moved to Tulsa, Tulsa Co., Oklahoma in 1947 after he was hired by American Airlines as a mechanic. Bob was transferred to the Fort Worth, American Airlines crew base in 1960. Eunice and children followed in July of 1961.
He was soon promoted to co-pilot after earning his pilot's license and ratings. Remained with American Airlines until 1982 until he retired after 35 years. Bob was to retire in December of 1982 but retired early due to a heart attack in May of that year. At retirement, Bob flew and was rated to train on all equipment that was then owned by the company. He was a Check Airman, a FAA designee and Test Pilot for the company. Earned his Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument ratings.
Bought land and built a log house outside of Pagosa Springs, Colorado where he and Eunice lived from 1983 to 1992. They then moved to Rockwood, Illinois where they bought the old Emery Place next to the Emery Cemetery.

He was called "Bobby" until the age of ten when he decided that his name was Robert. At the time of his death some of his friends called him "Rob"

Injured his left upper arm in a skiing accident at North Dallas Lake in Texas in August of 1961.
Won the AAU 2nd All-Around in Gymnastics his senior year in high school, 1969.
Taught school at the time of his death at Weatherford High School and Middle School. Taught science and was their gymnastics coach. Was called "Coach Atch" by his students. He attended Odessa Jr. College in Odessa, Texas, University of Texas at the Purmeon Basin in Odessa, Texas, the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Oklahoma and the North Texas State University at Denton, Texas. Earned his B.S. and Teaching Certificate from North Texas University.

Silas ATCHISON67,88 died WFT Est. 1746-1848. He was born between 1740 and 1760. He was born before 1766 in Prob. Virginia. He died on Mar 2, 1822 in Mason Co., Kentucky.
Silas is believed to have been born in Virgina, probably in the 1760's but prior to 1766. When a yong man he enlisted in the Continental Army and served as a soldier during the Revolutionary War. He was in the army in 1781 at the time of the siege of York Town, according tot information contained in a history of the Atchison family by Mr. S. W. Blizzard, a grandson of Silas.
Silas is thought to have three brothers and two sisters. The brothers names were William, Henry and John. One sister was named Sallie. The name of the other sister is unknown. Silas moved from Hardy County, Virginia to Bath County, Kentucky about 1796 with his brother William and maybe his other brother.
Two or three years later Silas moved to Ross County, Ohio to a farm near Chilicothe where he remained two years. He then moved back to Kentucky where he purchased a farm in Mason County near Mayslick.
His name first appears in the census report of 1810 for Mason County, Kentucky. It appears that he may have been living in Ross County, Ohio in 1800. The first census taken was for the yera 1790 but it was not until 1850 that the reports were elaborated upon sufficiently to include the names and dates of birth of all memebers of the household. The earlier reports gave only the name of the head of the household and by age groups, the number of males and females in the family. The census report for the year 1810 for Mason County Kentucky shows this entry:

This census discloses that Silas Atchison was at that time over 44 years of age and therefore was born prior to 1766. His wife Ruth was under 45 years of age.
There were six sons and seven daughters. Parents: William ATCHISON.
