            Alice Maiwald was a native of Pickett County, and was a member of Lovelady Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in her youth and returned there in her latter years. She passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

She was the daughter of W. Ervin and Edith (Story) Bertram.She was preceded in death by her parents, by an infant sister Blanche, and by a sister-in law Charlotte Bertram. She was a graduate of Pickett County High School, Tennessee Technological University, and Leadership Pickett and Leadership Upper Cumberland courses. She was an energetic supporter of the Arts, and at her passing was President of the fourteen-county Upper Cumberland Arts Alliance.
            Alice issurvived by her husband of 48 years, Ron Maiwald, brothers Albert and Joe(Betty) Bertram, and sister Katy Bertram (Bill) McQuistion. She is further survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
            Alice’s legacy is three college-graduate and professional daughters, Amy (Chuck) Roderer, Penney (Eric) Bentley, and Leigh (Michael) Huston. Her legacy continues through her daughters to the ten grandchildren: Kelsey, Shaun and Daniel Roderer; Emily, Anna, Scott, and Timothy Bentley; and Allison Deerwester, Adam and Claire Huston.
Interment of the ashes in Smyrna Cemetery will conducted prior to the Visitation, with Pastor Louis Davis of Lovelady Church officiating.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Byrdstown, on Friday, March 4, with a brief eulogy at 7 p.m.
